Coaching for newbie freelance translators

Supervision during the translation process or a final check of your translation before delivery to the end user.

End-customers have a different way of looking at things, which you may not fully understand if you come straight out from academia.

Coaching is an effective way to gain valuable insight into the key factors that drive customer loyalty.

My coaching and work experience programme will help you to identify your strengths and weaknesses and how you can improve your performance at each stage of the translation process, such as:

  • Creating your brand;
  • Marketing your brand;
  • Preparing quotes;
  • Receiving purchase orders;
  • Management of the texts;
  • Reproducing the formatting of the source;
  • Meeting deadlines;
  • Staying true to the style and content of the source texts;
  • Searching for terminology;
  • Creating glossaries;
  • Using CAT tools;
  • Delivering the final translation.

At the end of this work experience, you will be given:

  • The opportunity, if any, to work on real jobs;
  • A letter of reference to attach to your CV and the opportunity to use my name as a reference when applying to translation agencies;
  • The opportunity to become one of my trusted regular partners, sharing some of my workload during busy periods.
